Free Fee Calculator Online (No Signup)
Calculate transaction fees and find out exactly how much to charge your clients.
Overview
Welcome to our free Stripe & PayPal Fee Calculator. If you are a freelancer, an agency owner, or an e-commerce merchant, you know the frustration of sending an invoice for $100 and only receiving $96.80 in your bank account because the payment gateway took their cut. Dealing with transaction fees is an unavoidable part of doing business online, but doing the math to cover those fees shouldn't be a headache.
Our calculator simplifies this entire process. It not only tells you exactly how much money you will lose to fees on a given transaction, but more importantly, it features a "To Receive Exactly" reverse-calculation. If you know you need to clear exactly $1,000 for a project, the tool will tell you precisely how much you need to invoice your client to cover the Stripe or PayPal fees.
By default, the tool uses the standard domestic processing rates for Stripe (2.9% + 30¢) and PayPal (3.49% + 49¢). However, we know that international transactions, currency conversions, and special merchant accounts have different rates. That is why we built in the ability for you to enter custom percentage and flat fees to match your exact situation.

Cross-Border Consulting
A consultant charging international clients adds the extra 1.5% international card fee to the custom rate box to accurately calculate their foreign invoices.
Tips & Best Practices
- Stripe's standard rate for domestic cards is 2.9% + 30¢. However, they charge an additional 1.5% for international cards, and another 1% if currency conversion is required. Be sure to use the custom inputs if this applies to you!
- PayPal's standard rate for online commercial transactions in the US is 3.49% + 49¢. But if you are using PayPal Here (card reader) or receiving international payments, the rates change.
- If you pass fees onto your clients, be transparent about it in your contract. Write 'Client is responsible for 3% payment processing fees' so the higher invoice amount doesn't surprise them.
- If the fees are eating too much of your profit on large invoices (like $10,000+), consider asking the client for an ACH bank transfer or a wire transfer, which usually have capped flat fees instead of percentages.
